05The people behind Slate

A more transparent, client-focused way to build.

Before founding Slate, Zach led estimating, purchasing and project management for a custom home builder, and launched its production building arm from the ground up. When commitments there went unmet, he set out to build a more transparent, client-focused construction company. That company became Slate.

The questions homeowners ask us most before a first meeting.

Where does Slate build?
We build throughout Salt Lake County and Utah County, and we take on select projects beyond the Wasatch Front, like our Whispering Pines home in Island Park, Idaho.
What kinds of projects do you take on?
New custom homes, major renovations, additions and expansions, and exterior work such as decks, patios and siding.
How is Slate different from other luxury builders?
Our licensed trade work is done in-house. That gives us more control over quality, cost and schedule, and often saves clients up to 20% compared to other luxury builders.
What happens at the first meeting?
We get to know you, your lifestyle and your vision, and talk through what matters most. From there we move into planning floor plans and finishes together.
